It's happening. Biblical prophecies are being fulfilled. And it's not just speculation anymore. These prophecies are happening right now. And they're being fulfilled just as the Bible said they would be.

Introduction

We cannot know the exact day or hour of Jesus' return. However, Jesus tells us that when certain events take place, we can know that he is just around the corner:

32 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near;33 so you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. (Matthew 24:32-33)

When describing the signs of his return, Jesus makes numerous references to different books of the Old Testament, especially Daniel and Isaiah. After his ascension, he gave the apostle John the book of Revelation, in order to expand on these numerous prophecies.

Many books in the Old and New Testaments are filled with detailed prophecies about the future. This page summarizes Bible prophecies that have been fulfilled and those that are in progress.

Gospel to Every Nation in 5-10 Years?

In Matthew 24:14, Jesus predicted that once the Gospel went to "all the nations" in the "whole world," the end would come. Good theological research has been done, saying that "all nations" refers to people groups, not countries.  As of 2022, 28% of the world has no access to the good news of Jesus. However, here are five reasons that this task, called the Great Commission, will be accomplished before the end of 2031:

Jesus Film Forecast

The Jesus Film is one of the most widely used evangelistic tools by missionaries. In December 2021, the executive director of the Jesus Film Project, Josh Newell, said that it was "possible" to finish the Great Commission in 5-10 years.

Mass Evangelism

The Gospel is presented 1.5 billion times a year, through ministries such as CV Global, Global Media Outreach, Every Home for Christ, and Jesus Film.

Internet Users 2031

87% of the world's population will have Internet by the year 2031. If we assume that 87% of the 28% unevangelized will have Internet in the next ten years, this leaves only 4% of the world who will not have heard the good news of Jesus by then.

In-Person Evangelism

Organizations like Finishing the Task, Doulos Partners, and the Finishing Fund specifically target mission funding towards those people groups who have never heard the Gospel. These will play a critical role in getting the Gospel to the 4% of the unreached who won't have Internet by 2031.

Rural High-Speed Internet

Low-earth orbit satellite constellations such as Starlink and Oneweb will enable cell towers in rural areas to provide high speed Internet to those who would typically have a slow connection. This will insure that all people, rural and urban, have access to persuasive evangelistic videos.

End-Times Israel

Ezekiel 38-39 teach that the Jews will be regathered to Israel in the end times, after a long period of war-torn exile. Many other prophecies discuss a role for Israel in the last days. Therefore, Israel must be reborn in the end-times.

Born in a single day

Isaiah 66:8 says that Israel will be born in a single day. On May 14, 1948, David Ben Gurion proclaimed the birth of the State of Israel.

Regathered after a long exile

Ezekiel 39:27-28 says that Israel will be regathered from the nations after a long exile. The rebirth of Israel, and subsequent immigration to Israel were followed by a nearly 2000 year period of exile.

Is regathered after being slaughtered by their captors

Ezekiel 39:23 says that the Jews were killed while they were in exile. The Holocaust, as well as numerous persecutions of Jews throughout history, defined Israel's existence while in exile.

One Kingdom, not Two

Ezekiel 37:22 predicts that end time Israel will be governed by one leader, and would not be two separate nations as was in Biblical times. The Israel of today is one country, and is not divided between Israel and Judah as in the past.

Both Halves of Jerusalem

Zechariah 14:2 says that when all nations attack Jerusalem, half of the city will go into exile, whereas the other half will not be exiled. As of 1967, Jews have resided in both the Western half and the contested Eastern half of Jerusalem.

A Partial Regathering

Ezekiel 39:28 implies that when God is revealed to the nations, that God will finally bring the remainder of the Jews to the land of Israel. This is consistent with how things are now, where about half of Jews worldwide are in Israel today. The remainder will go to Israel at the Second Coming of Christ.

End-Times Roman Empire

Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 teach that there will be four empires in world history, rising one after another. Theologians believe the 4th kingdom is the Roman Empire. Daniel 7 says that the Roman Empire is defeated at the return of Christ. Therefore, the Roman Empire must be reborn in the end-times. There are several reasons to believe that the European Union is the end times Roman Empire predicted in the Bible:

A Roman Kingdom

The precursor organization to the EU, called the European Economic Community, was founded at the Treaty of Rome. The EU has some features of statehood. It makes its own laws, has its own currency, and has its own legislature, the European Parliament.

Exists Alongside Israel

The EU exists alongside end time Israel. Ezekiel 38:8 predicts that the Jews will be regathered to their land in the end times after a long exile. This is exactly how modern Israel was formed in 1948.

Located in Western Europe

The EU exists in Western Europe. The historical Roman Empire covered territory in Western Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Daniel 11:40-45 indicate that the Antichrist expands to the rest of these areas through military conquest.

Divided Kingdom

Daniel 2:41 says the end times Roman Empire will be a "divided kingdom." This is indicated by the United Kingdom's exit from the EU and the European Sovereign Debt Crisis, which threatened the very existence of the euro currency.

Partly Strong and Partly Weak

Daniel 2:42 says that the end-times Roman Empire will be partly strong and partly weak. This is true of EU countries. Some have a strong military, others have a weak military.

Failed Ethnic Integration

Daniel 2:43 says that the people of the end-times Roman Empire will try to ethnically unite through marriage, but fail to do so. As of 2010, marriages between people in different EU countries have a much higher rate of divorce than those who marry someone from their home country.

Rise of the Antichrist

The Antichrist is the last ruler of the Roman Empire. He will claim to be God and be a violent military conqueror. He eventually achieves world domination and commits genocide against the followers of Jesus. However, he is destroyed at the Second Coming of Christ.

10 Nation Alliance

Daniel 7:24 says that ten kings will arise from the end times Roman Empire. Because of this, theologians anticipate a 10-nation alliance in the area where the Roman Empire was. In 1995, a military alliance called the “Western European Union” became ten member states.

The Little Horn

Daniel 7:8 and 7:24 say that the Antichrist rises to power among a group of ten kings in the Roman Empire. In 1999, Javier Solana rose to power among a ten-nation military alliance called the Western European Union.

Three Kings Humbled

Daniel 7:24 says that the Antichrist humbles three of the ten kings during his rise to power. In 2006, Javier Solana gradually replaced the E3 (France, Britain, and Germany) in negotiations with Iran. He did this even though they originally wanted to work without him.

Recommendation 666

Revelation 17:12-13 says that the ten kings will give their power and authority to the Antichrist. In 2001, the ten-nation alliance transferred their ability to lead military operations to the EU, under Javier Solana. This was the result of WEU Recommendation 666 in the year 2000.

Personality of the Antichrist

Does Whatever He Pleases

Daniel 11:36 says that the Antichrist will do whatever he pleases. However, Javier Solana said that "At times I do whatever I want."

Has No Traditional Religion

Daniel 11:37 says that the Antichrist has no religion, other than exalting himself. Javier Solana has no traditional religion, because he is an atheist.

Honors the God of Fortresses

Daniel 11:38 says that the Antichrist honors "the god of fortresses" instead of traditional gods. This phrase is similar to the term "god of war," but with an important difference. Fortresses are for defending, not attacking. Javier Solana has been a huge advocate of making the EU into a military power for decades.

Honors the God of Fortresses with Money

Daniel 11:38 says that the Antichrist honors the god of fortresses with gold and silver. In modern terms, this is money. Therefore, the Antichrist is really big on defense spending. Javier Solana has repeatedly called for increased EU defense spending for decades. He would also be an excellent candidate to lead the EU's new defense spending programs, such as the European Defense Fund.

Wants EU Countries to Unify Militarily

Revelation 17:16-18 imply that the Antichrist's ten allies will unify to give him their national sovereignty, especially as it relates to their ability to violently destroy end times "Babylon." Solana has been a long time advocate of EU countries giving their national sovereignty to the EU in the area of defense.

Desires a World Government

Revelation 13:7-8 says that the Antichrist will have authority over every people group on earth. Therefore, its no surprise that Javier Solana has called for a "world government" in a 2010 speech.

Wants to Establish Peace in Neighboring Countries

Revelation 6:1-2 and Isaiah 28:15 imply the Antichrist will peacefully expand his empire, promising peace to Israel, and possibly many others. Javier Solana believes that the EU should provide "peace and security" to neighboring territories.

Answering Objections

It's no secret that Javier Solana is about to turn 80 and has not held office since 2009. However, this is not a theological difficulty. And if its not a theological difficulty, its not a difficulty at all, since God can do anything.

Mountain Peaks of Prophecy

Bible prophecies often predict events that are close together in the text, but actually have long gaps of time between them. Some good examples of this include the first and second coming of Christ (Zechariah 9:9-10; Isaiah 9:6-7), the rebirth of the Roman Empire (Daniel 2; 7) and the defeat of Tyre (Ezekiel 26). Therefore, its not a theological difficulty that Javier Solana has not held office for 13 years.

Prophecy Against All Odds

Bible prophecies often predict events that happen against all odds. The stories of Abraham, Noah, Joseph, the Exodus, the Building of the 2nd Temple, and Jesus' Resurrection all show that God likes to fulfill prophecy against all odds. Therefore, Solana's age is not a problem.

God Sets Up Kings and Deposes Them

It's clear that God is the one who causes the ten kings to enthrone the beast (Revelation 17:17). It is also similar to the book of Daniel, which repeatedly states that God, not men, is the one that sets up kings and deposes them. (Daniel 2:21; 4:17; 4:25; 4:32). Therefore, if God has determined Solana to return to a position of power, then nothing can stop it.

Lifespan of Spanish Males

Javier Solana is nearly 80 years old. However, Eurostat says that an 80 year-old Spanish man is likely to live 8-9 more years. Furthermore, once the events of Revelation 13 start, it appears the Antichrist has a mortal wound which is healed. And if Satan is allowed by God to heal a mortal wound, then providing long life to the Antichrist would not be a problem.

Present Activity

Javier Solana has been very active, giving a flurry of interviews ever since the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Some statements he has made imply he would be open to a position of power. For example: “if we want Europe to be something more important, I would seriously think that our security capacity has to be more European. That is what I would do if I were 20 years younger and had some responsibility” - Javier Solana, 2022

The Enthronement of the Beast

The Bible describes how the Antichrist's 10 allies give him their national sovereignty, especially as it relates to their ability to wage war. This power transfer has many features, as indicated below:

A "Common Purpose" in Defense

Revelation 17:17 says that the ten kings have a "common purpose." This "common purpose" is in the military domain, since it involves the violent destruction of end times Babylon. As of 2009, the EU established a common policy in defense, with the "Common Security and Defense Policy." This, among other reasons, caused the ten-nation WEU to close down.

A Transfer of National Sovereignty

Revelation 17:17 says that the ten kings give their "kingdom" (NASB) or "royal power" (ESV) to the beast. The Greek word used here implies that they give their national sovereignty to the Antichrist. As of 2022, EU members countries retain national sovereignty in defense. But many EU officials are pushing for deeper military unification.

Motivated by Hatred of Babylon

Revelation 17:16-17 says that this power transfer is motivated by hatred of a former ally, end-times Babylon. Frustration with the U.S. has been a motivating factor for recent European military unification efforts, and will be a major motivator in the future (see "End Times Babylon") below.

Rebirth of the 10-Nation Alliance

‌Interestingly, it is the Western European countries that are most open to an independent military force or a federal government for the EU. It is the eastern countries that oppose this. When the US finally refuses to protect the EU any longer, the ten former Western European Union nations will reunite to form a common military force.

End-Times Babylon

Revelation 17-18 describe end times Babylon as a prostitute who is carried by the beast. However, the beast turns on the prostitute and destroys her. This prostitute symbolizes a city that has been unfaithful to God. New York City is probably end times Babylon, for the following reasons.

Called "Babylon"

Revelation 18:10 refers to this end time city as "Babylon." There is a city called "Babylon" on Long Island.

Global Political Influence

Revelation 17:18 says that end-times Babylon "reigns" over the kings of the earth. New York City is the home of many global businesses. It is also the home of the United Nations.

Center of Global Trade

Revelation 18:11-15 describes end-times Babylon as the center of global trade. New York City is famous for the trading of many goods. Wall Street is home of the NASDAQ, the New York Stock Exchange, as well as a commodities trading market.

Ethnically Diverse

Revelation 17:15 says that end-times Babylon is very ethnically diverse. New York City is a very ethnically diverse city.

Coastal City

Revelation 18:17-19 says that everyone who makes their living on the sea will weep at Babylon's fall. New York City is a very major port city, with one of the largest natural harbors in the world.

Initially Allied with the Beast

Revelation 17:7 implies that end-times Babylon is initially allied with the Antichrist and his ten kings. The United States, and by extension, New York City, are allied with the EU through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military alliance.

Hated by the Beast

Revelation 17:16 says that the beast and the ten kings come to hate end- times Babylon. Donald Trump's disdain for NATO and Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal show that NATO unity could be short-lived. Analysts worry what will happen when the US grows tired of being the EU's military protector.

Antichrist's 7-Year Covenant

The Bible predicts that the Antichrist will confirm a 7-year contract with Israel, and possibly many others. The European Neighborhood Policy and the EU's 7-year foreign aid program, the NDICI, are likely the prototype for this program.

Confirmed by Roman Ruler

Daniel 9:26-27 say that the one who confirms the 7-year covenant comes from the same people group as those that destroyed the temple. These people were the Romans. The EU's cyclical 7-year contract with Israel is made by the EU, which is the revived Roman Empire predicted in the Bible.

Confirmed with Israel

Daniel 9:24-27 say that the entire prophecy is decreed for the Jews and Jerusalem. Therefore, Israel is a participant in the Antichrist's 7-year covenant. Israel is a participant country in the EU's 7-year NDICI program.

7 Years Long

The context of Daniel 9:24-27 shows that one "week" is a week of years, not days. The EU's first 7-year program with Israel was the ENPI, which lasted from 2007 to the end of 2013. After this was the ENI, which lasted from 2014 to the end of 2020. The most recent program is the NDICI, which covers most EU foreign aid, from 2021 to the end of 2027. The next one will presumably go from 2028 to the end of 2034.

Protection for Israel

Isaiah 28:15 implies that the Antichrist will form a protection or non-aggression treaty with Israel. Zechariah 11:17 also implies that the Antichrist will be Israel's "shepherd" in the end times. Javier Solana and others have talked about providing "peace and security" to neighboring countries in the future.

Mid-Term Review

The EU's 7-year foreign policy instruments have historically had a review 3 1/2 years into each program. This is very consistent with Daniel 9:27, which says the Antichrist stops animal sacrifices halfway through the 7-year contract. He could do this on the pretext that animal sacrifices violate EU animal rights standards.

Russia and Egypt Attack Antichrist

Daniel 11:40 says that the Antichrist is attacked by a powerful force south of Israel (probably Egypt) and a powerful force north of Israel (probably Russia). Russia and the EU have been enemies since Russia's first incursion into Ukraine in 2014 and especially so since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Antichrist Will Invade Israel, Exiling Half the City

Daniel 11:41 says that the Antichrist will invade Israel in the end times. Zechariah 14 says that half of Jerusalem will be exiled in the end times, while the other half remains. Interestingly, the EU says it is “illegal” for Jews to live in parts of historical Israel, including the eastern "half" of Jerusalem.

Antichrist Takes Over North Africa

Dan. 11:42-43 says that the Antichrist takes over Egypt and North Africa. Isaiah 19 also says the Nile River dries up. The Grand Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia on the Nile River has caused a dispute with Egypt. This would reduce Egypt’s water supply. Antichrist could force an unfair resolution.

Gog and Magog Invasion

Ezekiel 38-39 says that Russia, Turkey, and Iran launch a surprise attack on Israel in order to plunder them. In recent history, Russia, Turkey and Iran are forming an alliance. Furthermore, EU could cut dependence on Russian gas with the new Egypt-Israeli gas line, enraging Russia. This could cause Russia to plunder Israel's gas.

Many prophecies in the book of Revelation imply technological advancements which have not been present for most of history. Below are some trends that show these advancements may soon become a reality.

Image of the Beast Tech

Revelation 13:15 describes a talking image of the Antichrist which demands that everyone on earth worship it. Artificial intelligence programs are increasingly able to fake being human. An AI program of talking Antichrist could be worshipped on smartphones worldwide.

Mark of the Beast Tech

Revelation 13:16-18 states that the False Prophet will require a mark on right hand or forehead to buy and sell. Thousands of Europeans are getting chips implanted in their hands. Future tech could turn this into a smart tattoo.

Global Video Communications

Revelation 13 implies that all unbelievers on earth worship the Antichrist and his image in the end times. This is only possible with a global video communication system accessible to people in every ethnic group. The vast majority of humanity will be covered by mobile broadband towers within the next ten years.

Conclusion

The return of Christ is a source of incredible hope for the follower of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul calls the appearing of Jesus "the blessed Hope."

13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, (Titus 2:13)

Furthermore, the return of Jesus is a great incentive to become more like Christ each and every day. As the apostle John writes:

We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.3 And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (1 John 3:2b-3)

I hope this summary has given you newfound hope, as well as encouragement to become more like Jesus as the day draws near.

7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen (Revelation 1:7)

Even so, come Lord Jesus!
